With 35 years of working in clay, Sashihara-San is known for his expressive functional pottery. He states his current work is “centered on functional pieces for everyday use, however, I experience joy in finding ways to express myself within the confines of this genre. I am inspired by the great masters who have come before me in terms of technique as well as the balance and overall style of my work. I also take inspiration from beautiful natural settings, sculpture, and paintings.”
Sashihara-San apprenticed in Saga Prefecture in the Arita Yaki style of pottery after graduating from university and his work is celebrated throughout Japan in both group and solo exhibitions.

Austin singer Gina Chavez will perform! Gina has visited Oita twice for the Yumeiro Music Festival. She was supposed to perform again at Yumeiro in October 2020 and we are not sure if that will happen due to the coronavirus pandemic. Playing their high-energy ukulele duets all around Central Texas, Sho and Shin are redefining the limits of the ukulele. As brothers, they have a natural bond that shows through their duets, yet they also both bring their own unique styles to the stage.
